TSSS – An NGO since 1966 - with 55 years of service. Tellicherry social service society (TSSS) is the official social work organ of the archdiocese of Tellicherry. Started in 1966, it caters to the socially and economically disadvantaged sections in the society irrespective of caste, creed and community. Though the mainstream community of Kerala is highlighted as developed, TSSS concentrates on the less developed Malabar area in the Western Ghats. Started with the charity approach, TSSS in its journey to development, traversed through the welfare approach, then changing the course to people centered approach and finally reaching to Human Rights Based approach. The organization is part of various NGO network, like Caritas Network, North Malabar NGO Network, SAFP Network, Kerala social service Forum, etc. Advocacy, Lobbying, addressing regional issues, environmental problems, gender concerns and child rights are other areas of its focus. The organization has also developed a good networking system with Panchayath Raj institutions (PRIs).
